Important Reminder:

The Trader Mode feature is currently being upgraded and is being gradually rolled out through a gray release. This article is written based on the latest version of the Trader Mode feature. If your account has not yet been included in the gray release, the interface and actual user experience may still reflect the previous version and differ from the descriptions in this article. This is expected behavior. Once the feature is fully rolled out, you will be able to access the latest functionality.

If you're new to Trader Mode or unsure what changes when you enable it, start by reading What is OKX Wallet Trader Mode? It explains the feature and what to expect, so you'll know exactly what happens before you enable or disable it.

How do I enable Trader Mode for my account?

  1. Select your preferred existing account on the account management page. Tap Enable Trader Mode

Choose an account to enable trader mode

Select Add account at the wallet management page to add accont

  2. Select the enable period that you prefer > Enable to complete setting up your Trader mode account.

Select the period and enable the account

Why is there enable period and asset value limit?

To ensure the safest possible rollout, Trader Mode is currently in Beta with two key safeguards in place:

1. Asset value limit: 100,000 USD

During Beta, if your seed phrase account is enabling Trader Mode for the first time, its total seed value should be ≤ 100,000 USD. This helps us monitor security at scale and protect early adopters.

Note: after enabling, there is no balance limit — but we recommend keeping it under 100,000 USD during the Beta to minimize exposure as we continue to optimize security.

2. Enable period: 7, 15, or 30 days

After the enable period passes, Trader Mode will be automatically disabled. Your private keys will also be automatically deleted from the TEE for safety reasons. This ensures unused private keys don't linger unnecessarily in the system. You can always extend the account's enabled status or re-enable your Trader Mode afterwards.

These measures reflect our security-first approach to self-custodial trading. As we scale, we'll gradually increase the balance cap and support longer enable periods.

How do I check if Trader Mode was disabled or it's about to be?

You can check your Trader Mode status in various areas, and the status is color-coded:

  • 🟢 Green = Enabled

  • 🟠 Orange = Disabling automatically in less than 3 days

  • ⚪ Grey = Disabled

Status indicators appear in multiple sections of the wallet. Use them to manage your enabled status and avoid trading interruptions. If your Trader Mode is about to expire, you can manually renew it in advance.
